Unity Square (formerly Sovereign House) is a modern and sustainable urban regeneration scheme, located opposite Nottingham Midland Railway Station and straddling the Southside area of the city and the southern area of the city centre.
The site owners, Peel Holdings, sought to redevelop the existing site, which comprised of a multi-storey car park, commercial offices and industrial units.
The location of the site is adjacent to listed buildings and two conservation areas, as well as being within a designated regeneration zone. This meant an appropriate, design-led framework had to be developed to guide the delivery of a mixed use scheme.
NJL have project managed the setting of the appropriate design, planning and sustainability framework, which has been set within an outline planning permission, granted in late 2009. This has led to continued work with the Local Authority and engagement with the commercial sector to bring forward reserved matters submissions in 2010.
