Example Key Projects
Manchester Airport Hotels
Series of planning consents achieved expeditiously in the green belt, enabling an early start on site and completion of development.
Manchester Airport Group's developments arm sought consent for three separate hotel developments to serve the growth in demand at the airport. The land at the airport is within the green belt with sensitivities over landscape and ecological impacts.
NJL devised a planning strategy involving a combination of full, outline and reserved matters consents and set briefs for specialist studies. We co-ordinated the evidence base to demonstrate the need for the hotels and thereby justify the 'very special circumstances' test for development in the green belt.
Each application was prepared, submitted and recommended for approval within 16 weeks with successful determinations achieved in cooperation with Manchester City Council without the need for Section 106 agreements.
"NJL offers a unique blend of commercial understanding with clear strategic planning advice that helps deliver projects in a highly effective manner"
