Manchester City Council
NJL were retained by Manchester City Council to manage a major quantitative retail needs study across the city area. This involved providing briefings to the City Council as to the requirements of the study; the selection of main consultants and advice as to how the project should be taken forward. Within this, detailed strategic advice was given on retail matters across the city to assist the council in formulating future planning policies and identifying shortfalls in both retail and non- food retail provision across the city.
We have been advising the Council on two regeneration frameworks for the city area. These have been the Rusholme and Moss Side Local Plan and the South Manchester Strategic Regeneration Framework. We have worked as part of a wider consultant team with specific input to the future of centres in these areas and the commercial pressures for development for both retail and housing.
This has involved detailed analysis of the wider retail studies that have been completed for Manchester City Council (which we have been involved in throughout) as well as other studies involving retail development and other mixed use regeneration projects in these parts of the city.
