Port Warrington
Application for a multi-modal port facility at Acton Grange, Warrington intended to complement existing and future port operations along the Manchester Ship Canal.
The proposal seeks planning permission for a multi-modal port facility, the site is adjacent to the Manchester ship canal corridor, with an existing berth facility to be extended together with reinstating rail access to the west coast main line.
The site is immediately adjacent to an existing warehouse facility which operates entirely through road haulage. Extension of the site together with infrastructure provision delivers an excellent opportunity to reconfigure and develop the site thereby encouraging the transfer of freight from road to rail and ship.
NJL was appointed to lead the production of the planning statement and environmental impact assessment to accompany the application. The application demonstrates that the proposals represent an appropriate form of development within a green belt location and it can be constructed and operated with no significant adverse environmental effects.
