NJL Back Big Change Fund
The Big Change Fund was launched last year with the aim to help rough sleepers get off – and stay off – the streets.
The scheme enables members of the public to donate directly to a fund to help the homeless, rather than give money to people who are begging on the street.
The Big Change find that giving money directly to people who are begging does not help to steer them away from the streets and address the complicated range of problems which made them homeless in the first place, such as mental health issues or drug and alcohol addiction.
Not only have many members of the public chosen to support the fund, but businesses are now understanding the importance of this scheme and have made corporate donations to the fund to help get homeless people off the streets. So far it’s raised more than £5,500.
Our managing director, Nick Lee said: “As a grassroots planning and development consultancy based near Manchester Airport, we are supporting the Big Change campaign as they are delivering just that – tangible ‘big change’ on the ground in their support for homeless people.
Working in the property industry, we recognise the severity of the housing crisis and wanted to find a way to help people most affected.
Big Change MCR is a fantastic charity and we would urge others to get involved.”
