NJL Consulting secure approval for £1 billion Trafford Waters development

NJL Consulting is delighted to announce that Trafford Council’s Planning Committee has given the green light for the Trafford Waters development in Greater Manchester.  Trafford Waters will be located adjacent to the intu Trafford Centre and will include 3,000 new homes, 80,000 sq.m of offices, a school, a carehome, hotels and supporting facilities.  It will front the Manchester Ship Canal and include a ‘green’ bridge to the intu Trafford Centre.  Trafford Waters represents a £1 billion investment by Peel Land and Property in Trafford and is expected to generate 5,000 jobs.

James Whittaker, Development Director for the Peel Group says “Peel Land and Property is delighted to secure approval for the Trafford Waters development which will bring a new and exciting sustainable neighbourhood to the borough of Trafford.

“Our £1billion investment in Trafford Waters will create a tranquil enclave where a new community will have the opportunity to flourish on the fringes of Trafford Park.  It will feature all the elements which are typical of our successful ‘waters’ developments such as MediaCityUK – an attractive waterfront setting, new homes, local amenities as well as commercial space.

“Our vision is to create a place to call home - where families can live, work and grow.  Trafford Waters will more than transform the landscape it will change lives too”.

Annabel Partridge of NJL Consulting says “The Trafford Waters development realises the potential of this unique location which has a waterfront outlook, excellent transport linkages and a regional shopping centre on its doorstep.  It will bring a new form of urban living to Manchester, allowing families to thrive in a high density urban environment, with an onsite school and multifunctional open space.

“Trafford Waters has been an exciting development to see through the planning process, with bespoke solutions required to address the planning challenges arising from bringing forward such a unique scheme for Greater Manchester”.

Peel’s other advisors on the planning application include IBI, Gillespies, TTHC and BWB.
