While the proposals on pensions and the recall of MPs will no doubt grab the headlines, we’ve learnt by now that the coalition can’t resist tinkering with the planning system. NJL Consulting have submitted a full planning application to Wigan Council, on behalf of CityHeart Ltd, for the development of a convenience foodstore at Mesnes Road, Wigan.
The site is brownfield and previously contained a petrol filling station which was demolished in July 2008. The site is now vacant and is in poor condition, breaking up the building line and attracting fly tipping. The proposed development will enable the site to be brought back into productive economic use while complementing the existing retail offer within the Swinley Local Centre.
