New Submission - St. Augustine's School, Oldham - Galliford Try

NJL have submitted a detailed planning application for the redevelopment of a former school site in Oldham to provide 54 new residential dwellings.  On behalf of our clients Linden Homes, which is Galliford Try's residential arm, the proposed development will provide much needed 3 and 4 bed family homes at a vacant brownfield site around one mile south of Oldham Town Centre.

NJL coordinated a consultation exercise in which members of the public were invited to comment on the proposed scheme, reviewed all technical reports and drafted a Planning Statement to support the planning application.  The monitoring of the application through to determination will also be undertaken by NJL.

Why it’s time to start using GIS - Guest Blog - Dr. Alasdair Rae

NJL Consulting has recently worked with the University of Sheffield’s Geographical Information System (GIS) Masters students to provide a ‘real world’ perspective on the application of GIS.

We set students a brief which involved development site identification and asked them to identify a solution using the computer software.  We were really impressed with the results which led us to question how we could make better use of GIS within our field of work.  With this in mind, we asked Senior Lecturer Dr. Alasdair Rae to share his views with us on what GIS can do and why planners should start using it.  Here are his illuminating thoughts:

    Dukinfield Submission

Planning permission secured in Tameside for BAK Engineering

NJL Consulting are pleased to announce that outline planning permission has been secured for the proposed development of 15 new houses in Dukinfield, on behalf of BAK Civil Engineering Ltd.

The site is allocated as employment land within Tameside’s Unitary Development Plan, and NJL were brought on board to demonstrate to the Council that residential development would be appropriate in this instance.  NJL coordinated the planning application, which included an Employment Land Report and Marketing Report to show that the site was not a viable employment site and that there was no demand for employment uses in this location.  Alongside coordination of external technical reports, NJL prepared a Planning Statement and Design and Access Statement in-house, submitted the planning application to Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council and then negotiated on behalf of the developer through to determination.
