    Environmental Impact Assessment Thresholds

    Our Senior Environmental Planner Juan Murray has written a guest article for IEMA on Environmental Impact Assessment Thresholds and their effects on planning applications.

    "Does an EIA add significant costs and time to a planning application? Yes, of course it can, but the consultation on thresholds is not necessarily on removing schemes from being EIA development, but moving the threshold, which is the fundamental issue here."

    NJL Appoints new Non-Exec Chairman

    NJL Consulting are pleased to announce that Alan Murch will be joining their planning team in the role of Non-Executive Chairman.  With a wealth of experience gained through previous positions at Richard Ellis, CB Hillier Parker and CB Richard Ellis, Mr. Murch, who has 40 years' experience in the sector will assist with new leads, business development and will also take part in the day-to-day running of the business.

    He said, "using my years of experience the commercial property market and the contacts I've developed during my career, I'll be looking to bring an extra dimension to both managing and developing the business.  I've known managing director Nick Lee for nearly 15 years, having worked with him at two previous firms. I rate him highly as a commercially-minded planner and had no hesitation in accepting his invitation to join what I consider to be a highly progressive company."

    On behalf of Quorum Estates Ltd and Stockport Homes Ltd, NJL have submitted a planning application for an office development at Edward Street in Stockport town centre.  The application proposes the redevelopment of the car showroom and vacant industrial premises to form the new headquarters for Stockport Homes.

    Success for Cityheart as Mesnes Road achieves planning permission

    NJL are pleased to announce that planning permission has been secured for a 4,300sqft Sainsbury's convenience foodstore at Mesnes Road, Wigan.  Working on behalf of Cityheart Ltd, NJL were responsible for preparing a Planning and Retail Statement and coordinating the planning application, alongside engaging in post application discussions with Wigan Council.
