Approval of the NYX Hotel application at Birmingham Planning Committee
NJL Consulting are delighted to announce that, on behalf of Jury’s Inn, approval has been obtained at Birmingham Planning Committee for the development of a new NYX Hotel at Broad Street, Birmingham.
As an innovative brand, NYX present an exciting approach to the hotel industry which recognises culture as being ‘the soul of the city’. For this reason, NYX Hotel is considered to be a happening hub of urban culture. This new approach to the role of hotelier seeks to form collaborations with promising young artists, fashion designers, and musicians, and give them a platform to create, perform and exhibit. A NYX hotel brings this art and personality to its individual location via street art, 24-hour DJ sessions, pop-up fashion shops and more.
The approved development will introduce a 261 bed hotel over 13 storeys and mezzanine floor, as well as providing a 152 space on site car park. The hotel will comprise reception area, office, luggage store, gym and associated back of house facilities at ground and lower ground floor. A wide range of en-suite rooms will be on offer across floors 4-11, while the restaurant, bar, terrace and staff facilities will be located on the upper floors.
The development promises to make a positive impact on the tourism and hotel market of the city centre, and will make an active contribution to the local economy. It is projected that around 110 immediate employment opportunities will be directly generated in addition to construction jobs, including a range of roles for different skill-sets such as managerial, positions within the food and drink sectors, and maintenance.
NJL are proud to have provided the planning advice and services throughout the planning process, including pre-application stage, public consultation and planning committee. We also had the pleasure of working closely with the design and technical team (Consarc Architecture) to bring forward the best possible scheme, preparing the Planning Statement, final submission pack and ensuring a smooth planning process.
Be sure to follow the progress of this exciting city centre development in Birmingham!
