Nick’s Investec Ashes Cycle Challenge 2015

Having started at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Nick has now completed Days 1 and 2 of his Investec Ashes 2015 Cycle Challenge. Forming one of the team members who embarked on the challenge including cricket (and Strictly Come Dancing!) legend Darren Gough, the 300-mile journey takes Nick to the stadia used in England’s triumphant 2005 Ashes series, the first time England won the Ashes urn since 1987. Beating off the rain, Nick has so far been to Old Trafford, Trent Bridge and Edgbaston. His most recent update was him reaching Bedford as he continues towards London to make flying-visits to the Oval and Lords. Nick and the team will reach London tomorrow (Wednesday 15th July), just in time for the 2nd Test of the 2015 series.

The Cause

The Investec Ashes Cycle Challenge is raising money for the Lord’s Taverners Charity (link to the website below). The charity gives young people with disabilities or from disadvantaged backgrounds a sporting chance. The charity supported 216,000 young people last year and has calculated that they have created over 8.6 million ‘sporting chances’ across all their programmes. The UK-based charity specialises in encouragement of community cricket, disability cricket, wheelchair sports, and providing accessible minibuses, as well as other means of providing young people with a chance to participate in sport and enjoy the benefits of sport. So far the Investec Cycle Challenge 2015 has raised £244,815.83 for this fantastic cause. If you would like to support Nick and the Lord’s Taverners Charity, please use the link at the bottom of this page.

Good luck Nick!
