Nicole Dresses to Impress for Charity

All this week, our Associate Director Nicole Roe is ‘dressing to impress’ in aid of charity Mummy’s Star.  Mummy’s Star are the only UK registered charity who provide support for women/families:

  • Diagnosed or treated for cancer during pregnancy,
  • diagnosed or treated for cancer within of year of a birth, or
  • who in the first year after pregnancy lose a spouse (female or male).

They provide grants to families in need of financial relief, give information ranging from medical to employment rights and general support for individuals and their families.

Every day this week Nicole will be wearing a different outfit selected by her 3 year old son, Thomas.  She has to wear what he chooses for the whole day no matter what she is doing, be it coming into the office or attending meetings, going to the shops, going out for the evening, going for a run… everything.

The challenge started on Bank Holiday Monday where she wore a fantastic combination of green, black and white skirt over pink patterned cords with gold wellies and a hockey club jumper.  Although after some consultation about how hot the weather was she was allowed to swap the wellies for running trainers.  This delightful outfit was worn on a family outing to Chatsworth House.

Tuesday’s work wear was a bit more sedate, red trousers with a striped tunic, pink body warmer, pumps with flower detail and bike socks.  Oh and two watches, one to tell the time and one so that she knows where she is going, according to Thomas!

On Wednesday Thomas excelled himself by teaming the red trousers with a hockey skirt, green shirt with sausage dog print, sparkly shoes, the pink body warmer and four watches.  Thomas said that the skirt and shoes were for dancing, we are not sure that he has quite grasped what we do at NJL but a spot of dancing could have brightened up our Wednesday.

Thursday is Nicole’s last day in the office for the week and Thomas carried on the ‘layered’ look by making her wear two dresses.  Unfortunately, the red trousers were not available for a third day’s wear but Thomas was very happy to find a pair of red tights to take their place.  Four watches were again the order of the day but this time they were joined by a glass bead bangle and two necklaces.

Although Nicole will not be in the office for the rest of the week the ‘Dress to Impress’ challenge continues until Sunday when she will have to attend a family christening at Lichfield Cathedral.  We wish her well, both in coping with the humiliation and collecting sponsor money for such a great cause.  If you would like to offer your support for her endeavours sponsor money is being collected through Just Giving and the link is:
