NJL submits application for new B&M Distribution Hub
NJL Consulting, on behalf of UK Land and Property (UKLP), has submitted a reserved matters planning application for the development of a 1,000,000 sq.ft warehouse in Bedfordshire. The site is located at Wixams Northern Expansion Area (NEA) and is to be home to a new B&M distribution hub.
In collaboration with UKLP, B&M, DLA Architecture, the Vinden Partnership and other co-consultants, NJL has managed the planning process, and reviewed and prepared technical reports, and consulted with stakeholders.
The warehouse will contribute to the growing importance of the Wixams NEA, boosting economic growth and acting as a gateway employment site for the region.
The development promises to bring job creation across a number of business sectors during both its construction and operational phases in a partnership which sees Bedford Borough Council, Mid-Bedfordshire District Council and Bedfordshire County Council focusing efforts upon promoting growth for the area.
In delivering the application, NJL has assisted in navigating a number of technical constraints, in particular ensuring sensitivity to the nearby railway line and service yard.
The development will eventually form part of a varied mix of uses in the area, including ancillary services and facilities, office and light industry and a new residential settlement of up to 4,500 new homes.
