Priory Meadow, Hastings – NJL Consulting supports the ongoing asset management
We are delighted to have submitted a planning application, on behalf of NewRiver REIT UK Ltd (‘NewRiver’), for the change of use of underused floorspace at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre, Hastings, to enable occupation by The Gym Group.
The submission represents an important milestone in introducing complementary non-retail uses to a key area in Hastings town centre, within one of the larger town centre units.
It will allow the current tenant to rationalise their existing two storey store to a more efficient ground floor unit, enabling them to remain in the centre. The upper floor space would then converted, to create space for alternative uses (the gym).
The submission comes at a time when high streets are faced with an increasingly challenging market and changing consumer expectations. If approved, it will enable the efficient and effective use of town centre space and create a genuine mix of uses in this location.
Our team has been working with NewRiver to bring forward the application, which follows on from proactive engagement with the local planning authority.
We will be working with Hastings Council through to the determination of the application.
The project team also includes Corstorphine + Wright (architects).
