Submission for Chamberhall, Bury development goes in
We are delighted to confirm that we have now submitted a hybrid planning application, on behalf of St Modwen Properties Plc, to develop land at Chamberhall in Bury for an employment-led mixed use development. The application comprises of a full planning application for 12,000 sq.m of Use Class B1, B2 and B8 employment floorspace in 16 units on Phase 1 of the development and an outline application for a mix of retail, leisure and employment uses on Phase 2.
This planning application represents an important milestone in bringing forward a development site that has been allocated for over 20 years, so that it can make a valuable contribution towards Bury’s economy.
Our team has been working with St Modwen and Bury Council to bring forward this site for a number of years. As part of this role we formulated a planning strategy for the development, which has resulted in releasing part of the employment allocation for retail and leisure uses and have prepared a Planning and Delivery Statement setting out a clear delivery strategy for the development. We also coordinated the technical team in the production of over 20 supporting technical documents.
The project team includes RPS, Atkins, Hopkins Coates, Rogers Leask, Nolan Redshaw and Pozzoni.
David Nuttall, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen, said:
“The submission of this planning application is the culmination of the significant investment we have made to date on Chamberhall Business Park.
The Development Agreement was only recently completed so we believe that making this application so quickly thereafter is a signal of our intention to make Chamberhall Business Park happen.
The scheme we are proposing will deliver a new high quality business destination in Bury and we are encouraged by the feedback we have already had from local occupiers.”
We will continue working with Bury Council through to the determination of the application.
