We'll Drink to That!
After assisting in Idle Hands’ pursuit for a permanent home (more information on that available here), we are please to confirm we have successfully obtained planning permission and an associated Listed Building Consent to allow Beatnikz Republic Brewing Co. to occupy a unit at 35 Dale Street in the Northern Quarter.
Centrally located within Manchester’s Northern Quarter, 35 Dale Street comprises a Grade II Listed Building which previously housed office uses across its 4,000 sq.m of floorspace. Helical Plc bought 35 Dale Street in 2015 and have made significant investments to refurbish the office space to the upper floors and to create desirable ground floor accommodation for some of Manchester’s up and coming businesses.
Beatnikz Republic Brewing Co. is a microbrewery based in Manchester who make ‘daring, innovative and high quality beer’ and have been doing so since early 2017. Their location at 35 Dale Street will include 14 x keg lines and 4 x cask lines (50% their own beer and 50% guest beers) as well as a selection of the latest release cans and rare bottles/sharers, and a selection of carefully chosen ciders, wines, spirits and a cocktail list to match.
Acting on behalf of Helical, NJL were instructed to prepare and submit change of use and Listed Building Consent applications. Our role included liaison with the architect and heritage consultant (Atelier) and noise consultant (Clements Acoustics), and preparation and coordination of the application including policy justification to explain why Beatnikz’ occupation would meet planning policy objectives whilst causing no detrimental impact to heritage nor residential amenity.
The applications were both approved by Manchester City Council last month within statutory timescales.
Good luck to Beatnikz – we will look forward to a beer (or several) very soon!
