NJL Consulting submitted a full planning and Listed Building Consent application behalf of Pearl Brierfield Mill Limited, a joint venture between Pendle Borough Council and Barnfield Investment Properties Limited, for a landmark development called ‘North Light’ in Brierfield in Lancashire. The application site comprises the Brierfield Mills complex which are Grade II Listed Buildings in a Conservation Area that are on English Heritage’s Heritage at Risk Register. They are in a prominent position, visible from the M65 motorway and have laid vacant since 2006.
The proposals will bring this important local heritage asset back into use for a hotel (Use Class C1) and leisure unit (Use Class D2). The proposed hotel will be a high quality spa hotel that utilises the character of the Listed Buildings. The leisure unit will comprise a multipurpose leisure facility that will include a climbing wall and other active leisure pursuits.
