NJL started in a back room in Salford. Our goal was simple: to be the personable, high-quality commercial planning service we felt was missing in the sector.
Fast forward through 20 years of hard work and more than our fair share of unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime projects, and here we are. We’ve successfully established a stellar reputation for our ability to navigate high-value, high-profile developments with determination, creativity, and innovation in equal measure.
Our job descriptions might be planners. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg for us. As a team, we’re constantly looking at how we can adapt our services to support clients and align with their goals. To be the trusted partner who takes you from initial site appraisal all the way to breaking ground on-site.

We wouldn’t be half the business we are today without our people. From day one, we’ve been passionate about empowering our staff to build a career centred around their passions, interests, and individual skill set.
Every member of the team should be excited about the future of the company. After all, it’s these team members that will shape what NJL becomes over the years. OUR AFFILIATIONS
Through our longstanding relationship with the RTPI, we offer mentoring support for graduates undertaking their APC, and regularly engage with RTPI initiatives and events.​ Over the last 18 months, two members of the NJL team have been on the Young Planners Committee - responsible for organising events and initiatives across the North West.
In Summer 2022, we signed a partnership with Protect our Winters. And, in doing so, have pledged to become carbon zero as soon as possible.
This partnership will continue to push us to be a better business, making changes to lead by example in an increasingly carbon-zero world.
We are delighted to be partnering with Life Share as our charity of the year. Life Share is a Manchester based charity helping people affected by homelessness.
